List Resources error: Node is currently down, unreachable, or provided credentials are not valid

Updated May 22, 2017

Overview

The following error is displayed when performing List Resources on a node, which has a successful credentials test (SNMP/WMI) and can successfully pull statistics via SNMPWALK or WBEMTest:

Node is currently down, unreachable, or provided credentials are not valid

Environment

  • NPM 12 and later
  • SAM 6.2.4 and later
  • Orion Platform 2016.1 and later

Cause

This occurs when there is a cached List Resources action where credentials were not working or the node was down.

Resolution

  1. Perform List Resources on the node.
  2. Click OK.
  3. Click Force Refresh.

The List Resources action successfully completes on the device.
