Licensed product showing as Evaluation Expired

Overview

After an Orion server migration, Orion products are showing as Evaluation Expired on the Orion Web Console > Settings > License Details even though they are activated on the SolarWinds License Manager.

Environment

Any SolarWinds Orion product

Steps

  1. Check the SolarWinds License Manager on the Old Orion Server and make sure that Licensed Products are Deactivated.
  2. Open the Orion Service Manager and make sure that the SolarWinds Orion Services are stopped/shutdown on the Old Orion Server.
  3. RDP to the New Orion Server and apply the following below: 
    • Use the latest version of SolarWinds License Manager, deactivate all Orion licenses.
    • Delete the NPM.Eval.lic file from the c:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion\NPM\ folder. 
  4. Use the License Reset tool on the Orion server: http://solarwinds.s3.amazonaws.com/s...censeReset.zip.
  5. Password is (without double quotes): “burn/purify”
  6. Stop all Orion services in the Orion Service Manager.
  7. Activate all licenses again.
  8. Start all Orion services in the Orion Service Manager.
  9. Synchronize the licenses.
  10. Check the Orion Web Console > Settings > License Details that the licenses are no longer appearing as expired.
