Why are my email alerts not being sent?

Description:

E-mail alerts are not being sent. The Alert Error Log displays the following error:

The message could not be sent to the SMTP server. The transport error code was 0x800ccc15. The server response was not available.

Resolution:

This issue is typically related to port 25 being blocked by an application on your SolarWinds server. Many antivirus applications block traffic on port 25 by default, and this is typically the cause of this type of error.

To resolve this issue:

  1. Review settings for any and all antivirus or network protection applications you are running on your SolarWinds server.
  2. Disable any setting that automatically blocks SMTP traffic from your SolarWinds server on port 25.
