Overview

The following error message appears:

Website configuration failed:

- Connection to SolarWinds Information Service did not succeed.  Last error:  The socket connection was aborted.  This could be caused by an error processing your message or a receive timeout being exceeded by the remote host, or an underlying network resource issue.  Local socket timeout was '##:##:##:#######'

Despite this message, Information Services are up and there are no relevant errors in the Information Services logs or in the BusinessLayerHost logs.

ERROR SolarWinds.Orion.Common.SWEventLogging - Connection to SolarWinds Information Service v2.0 did not succeeded after 60 retries. Please start SolarWinds Information Service

Environment

All Orion environments

Cause

You are possibly trying to connect to an invalid database (either to an old SolarWinds database that does not match the current version, or a non-SolarWinds database).

In other cases, the MD5 certificate is still being used and .NET Framework 4.6.1 was installed from Windows Update.  This can cause connectivity issues with Information Services errors among a large number of issues with other modules.

Resolution 1:

Change the Configuration Wizard settings to connect to the proper database.

Resolution 2:

1. Uninstall .NET Framework 4.6.
2. Install .NET Framework 4.5.2.

3. Run Configuration Wizard.
