Overview

This article provides brief information and steps to resolve the issue when you are unable to poll interface data, CPU and Memory for specific nodes using the WMI polling method.

Environment

  • NPM version 11.5
  • Nodes added via WMI Polling Method

Cause

The issue is caused when performance counters are corrupted and rebuilt with LODCTR command from the command prompt.

Resolution

Re-register PerfMonCounters and WMI classes:
     1. Open an elevated CMD on the affected server/node.
     2. Re-register the PerfMonCounters and WMI Classes.
           a. Open an elevated CMD window on the target system.
           b. Go to the following directory:
                 c:\windows\sysWOW64\
           c. Type the following commands:
lodctr /R (may need to run twice if it fails to run the first time)

     D, Then run the following:
        wmi wmiadap.exe /f

After rebuilding the performance counters, the WMI polling on the affected node should work correctly.
