Note: Upgrading to VMAN v6.3 or higher resolves this issue.

Issue:

Guest Status for two (2) nodes is showing as Critical - One or more thresholds are exceeded.

Cause:

This issue is caused by default Network Usage Rate thresholds which are set to lower values.

Resolution:

Do the following steps to resolve the issue:

Part 1: Changing the configuration of the Database Manager
1. Open the Database Manager on the Orion machine:
Go to Start > All Programs > SolarWinds Orion > Advanced Features > Database Manager.
2. Locate your SolarWindsOrion database (Add default server).
Right click on your SolarWindsOrion database and select New Query.
3. Enter the following SQL query to update the settings and allow a higher maximum value for Network Usage Rate threshold:
    UPDATE VIM_ThresholdTypes SET MAximum=5000000 WHERE Name='NetworkUsageRate'
UPDATE VIM_Thresholds SET Maximum=5000000 WHERE TypeID = (SELECT TypeID FROM VIM_ThresholdTypes WHERE Name='NetworkUsageRate')
4. Execute query.

Part 2: Configuring Virtualization Thresholds
On the Virtualization Thresholds page, adjust the values on the Network Usage Rate to a level that will work for the environment.
Your two options for configuring are:
1. Virtualization Global Thresholds for all nodes
    a. Web Console > Settings > Virtualization Settings > Virtualization Global Thresholds
    b. Network Usage Rate > Set the Warning and Critical Levels
2. Virtualization Thresholds for individual nodes
    a. Web Console > Settings > Virtualization Settings > Virtualization Thresholds
    b. Select the Nodes/Virtual Machines in questions > Edit Thresholds
    c. Network Usage Rate > Override Global Orion Threshold
    d. Set the Warning and Critical Levels

Applies to: NPM v11.5
