You can install Packet Analysis Sensors and their underlying agent on computers that use a proxy, and they will communicate to your Orion Platform polling engine through the proxy.

You must set your proxy using the netsh command in both 64-bit mode and 32-bit mode.

Note: You can only install Packet Analysis Sensors on 64-bit computers.

To deploy to Windows 7, Server 2008, or later:

  1. On the computer you want to monitor, run netsh.exe from both c:\Windows\SysWOW64\ and c:\Windows\System32\.
  2. Enter this command, where ProxyServerName is the name of your proxy server:
    Winhttp set proxy [proxy-server=] ProxyServerName
  3. Deploy the Packet Analysis Sensors or Agents from the Web Console.

This article applies to all SolarWinds products using Orion Platform 2014.1.1 and NPM version 11.x.
