Upgrading an Additional Polling Engine generates an error

Overview

When you run the SolarWinds Orion Installer to upgrade an Additional Polling Engine (APE), the installer displays the following error:

We are unable to download file Orion.CliClient.x.x.x.x.opkg from main server. 
Please check connection to main server and try again.

Environment

  • NPM 12.4
  • Additional Web Server (APE)

Cause 

Unknown. The APE is trying to download the file from the primary, but it does not exist on the primary. The installer then attempts to download the file using an Internet connection. This error displays if it cannot obtain the file from either location.

Resolution

  1. Locate the download link in the installer logs. The logs are located at:
    %programdata%\solarwinds\installer
  2. Download the installation file.
  3. Place the file in the following directory:
    %programdata%\solarwinds\installers
  4. Rerun the SolarWinds Orion Installer.
