Unexpected Website Error - Providefault failed, check fault information

Overview

This article provides steps on how to resolve issues when customer is getting the error "Unexpected Website Error - Providefault failed, check fault information." when importing nodes from Network Sonar Discovery.

Environment

NPM version 11.5.3

Resolution

1. Repair the following services using MSI files in C:\ProgramData\SolarWinds\Installers:

  • JobEngine.v2
  • JobEngine
  • InformationService
  • CollectorInstaller

2. Rebuild Orion Website.

a. Stop Orion Services.

b. Delete SolarWinds NetPerfMon website and Application Pool in IIS.

c. Rename SolarWinds folder in C:\inetpub.

d. Clear the content of root folder in C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v4.0.30319\Temporary ASP.NET.

e. Run Command Prompt as Administrator and navigate C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v4.0.30319.

f. Run the command aspnet_regiis -iru.

g. Run Configuration Wizard and choose Services and Website.
