Environment

* Core all versions

Cause

This issue is caused by a connection problem from NPM to SQL. This could be due to SQL user not having right permissions on SolarwindsOrionDB or some underlying network problem.

Resolution

  1. Open Database Manager and click Add default server.
    If the same error message appears, the connection to SQL needs to be fixed.
  2. Use telnet to verify if port 1433 is open.
  3. If it still does not connect, verify if there is something that is blocking the server from establishing a connection to the SQL server.

Resolution #2:

1, Run the configuration wizard again

2, Select all 3 choices, database/website/services

Resolution #3:

1, Reboot of the Orion server, you may also need to reboot the SQL server.
