Unable to access Web Console: Cannot retrieve URL error

This article describes an issue where you are unable to access the Web Console or it returns the Cannot retrieve URL error.


All NPM versions


The Orion website is not listening to the correct port or an incorrect full domain host name is stored in the Website table.


Make sure that the Default Web Site is not listening on the same port as the Orion website:

  1. Open IIS Manager.
  2. Go to Sites > Default Web Site > Bindings
  3. Change the IP address. This should be different from what the Orion website is listening on.
  4. Save the settings and restart the website.


Make sure that the Orion website is listening on all IP addresses:

  1. Open IIS Manager.
  2. Go to Sites > SolarWinds NetPerfMon > Bindings.
  3. Set the IP address to All Unassigned for all the bindings.
  4. Save the settings and restart the website.


Make sure that the website configuration in the Websites table is correct:

  1. Click Start, and then go to SolarWinds Orion > Advanced Features > Database Manager.
  2. Click Add default server.
  3. Right-click the SolarWinds Orion database, and then select New Query.
  4. Paste the following query, and then click Execute:
    SELECT * FROM Websites
  5. Make sure that the ServerName is correct and the port is the same as the port that was previously set in IIS Manager. If you are using HTTPS to access the website, make sure that the port is set to 443 and SSLEnabled is set to 1. If you need to change any value, click Enable table editing, and then double-click the field that needs to be changed.
