Troubleshooting Report Scheduler on NPM

Run through the procedures below to diagnose where the issue lies:


To test the specified email gateway, use SWEmailNotify.exe tool located at:  (NPM 10.X - 11.0) %:\Program Files\Solarwinds\Common\ (NPM 11.5) %:\Program Files(x86)\Solarwinds\Common\ 

If you cannot connect, check the local and remote firewall settings and local anti-virus.
(for example, if you have McAfee installed, check the Virus Scan Console > View Log and see if it is blocking SMTP port 25 traffic).


NPM 10.X (Does not exist in NPM 11.X and newer):

If you can connect to the SMTP server then send the Job Log (see 2 below) and the screenshots of your job settings (see 3 below) as well as the NPM version you are on 
and what Service Pack level (use C:\Program Files\Solarwinds\Orion\SolarWindsVersionChecker.exe for this).

- The server response was: 5.7.1 Client does not have permissions to send as this sender SMTP

Individual Job Log
The Report execution Log is located at: C:\Programdata\Solarwinds\Logs\Orion\ActionsExecutionReport.log


NPM 11.5 Instructions: Schedule reports from the Schedule Manager.

NPM 10.X > 11.0 Instructions:

Start > All Programs > Solarwinds Orion > Advanced Features > Orion Report Scheduler

  • Right-click on the job and take a screenshot of every tab.
  • Edit the Email action and take a screenshot of each tab. 
  • Test the URL from Report Scheduler. It will open up and you can see if there are any errors.

   But note if the user RDP'd in using known AD Account, it will bypass the Test and use that, which invalidates your test.

Also please note that the Report Scheduler replies on the Windows Task Scheduler
In Windows Task Scheduler, select the task and ensure that run whether user is logged in or not is selected under General properties tab.
