System.OutOfMemoryException error when loading a Network Atlas map

Overview

When you load a map that contains a large collection of maps, Network Atlas crashes, displaying the following message:

System.OutOfMemoryException.

The NetworkAtlas.log file may contain the following errors:

2018-04-12 15:16:34,713 [198] FATAL NetworkAtlas - InnerException: 
System.InsufficientMemoryException: Failed to allocate a managed memory buffer of 
134217728 bytes. The amount of available memory may be low. ---> 
System.OutOfMemoryException: Exception of type 'System.OutOfMemoryException' was thrown.

  • Network Atlas
  • All NPM versions through 12.2

Detail

Avoid nesting large trees of maps. 

Network Atlas is a 32 bit program with a memory limit that applies to 32 bit processes. When a map containing other maps is loaded in Network Atlas, all nested maps are loaded as well. If the loaded maps exceed the available memory limit, NPM displays a memory exception message.
