Resolution

Warning:

for NPM 11.5.3 and Older:

  • Consult your System Administrator before performing the following procedure.
  • SolarWinds strongly recommends that you only edit the SyslogService.exe.config file as instructed. Any additional modifications may result in system performance issues or may create an error state.
  • Save a copy of the original SyslogService.exe.config file to your local drive as a backup file, in case you need to roll back later

  1. Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion on the NPM server.
  2. Open the SyslogService.exe.config file in a text editor.
  3. In the string  <add key="EnableRfcRelay" value="false"/>, change from false to true.
  4. Save the changes
  5. Restart the Orion Services using the Orion Service Manager.

for NPM 12.0 and newer

  1. Access the advanced configuration setting: https://support.solarwinds.com/Success_Center/Network_Performance_Monitor_(NPM)/Advanced_Configuration_access_in_Orion_Platform
  2. locate: SyslogService.SyslogSettings
  3. set: EnableRfcRelay to enable or put a check on a box
  4. save settings
  5. restart Orion services
