Syslog messages does not appear in the Syslog Viewer. However, the Syslog messages continue to load, even after using the discard rule.

All NPM versions

Check and make sure that your firewall settings is turned off. If it is and there are still issues, proceed with the following steps:

  1. Log in to your NPM system as an administrator.
  2. Click Start and select All Programs > SolarWinds Orion > Syslog and SNMP Traps > Syslog Viewer.
  3. Click File > Settings.
  4. Locate and open the rule for your Syslog messages.
  5. Create a new rule for your Syslog messages.
  6. Open the General tab.
  7. Select the Use Regular Expressions in this Rule checkbox.
  8. Save the rule.
  9. Add the new rule to your rules list.
  10. Disable a discard rule near the bottom if one exists

In few cases noticed the Syslog reuls created with different RTCN location caused the issue.

Delete the old rules and recreate them again will help
