SQL error in Basic Alerts Manager, Syslog Viewer and Trap Viewer

ISSUE
1. Advanced Alert Manager Hangs or does not show anything for alerts.
2. Basic Alert Manager shows a sql error when opening it. (Only applies to NPM 11.x and NPM 12.x)
3. Syslog Viewer shows a SQL error when trying to open it.
4. Traps Viewer shows a SQL error when trying to open it.

 

 

The Advanced Alert Manager was discontinued and functionality was rolled into the Orion Platform. For the latest information about alerts, see Alerting resources for Orion Platform products.


CAUSE:
An extra space may exist at the end of the SQL Server name.

SOLUTION

  1. Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion
  2. Locate the file named "SWNetPerfMon.DB"  and open it in Notepad 
  3. Remove the space after DOH-SQL-CS0801 . (See screen shot example.)
  4. Verify there is no space after the SQL server name . 
  5. Restart all Orion services
