When you are troubleshooting NPM or SAM, you may require the output from SNMPWalk to verify device data. This article shows you how to run an SNMP walk on your Orion applications.


  • All NPM versions
  • All SAM versions


  1. Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion
  2. Locate the SNMPWalk.exe utility.
    If you are missing the utility, see SNMPWalk is missing from Orion server poller.
  3. Run SNMPWalk.exe
  4. Complete the fields in the SNMPWalk window.
    1. In the Agent Address or DNS Name field, enter the IP address of the node.
    2. In the drop-down menu, select Version 2c or 3, depending on the configured node.
    3. In the Root OID field, enter 1
    4. In the Community field, enter the community string configured for the device.
    5. Click Scan.
  5. Locate the resulting text file and attach it to the case.
