SNMP Service on F5 device crashes

Overview

This article provides brief information and steps to resolve the issue when the SNMP Service on F5 device crashing.

Deleting the duplicate management route will resolve the issue temporarily.

When the device is rebooted, the duplicate management route re-appears and the SNMP service on the device crashes again.

 

Environment

All NPM versions

 

Cause 

The device is not able to handle SNMPv2c GET BULK requests properly.

 

Resolution

Change polling of this node from SNMPv2c to SNMPv1:

  1. Go to the Manage Nodes page of the web console (Settings > Manage Nodes).
  2. Select node that has the issue.
  3. Click Edit Properties.
  4. Change the SNMP version from SNMPv2c to SNMPv1.
  5. Click Submit.
