Reports fail to run intermittently. A resource fails to initialize. There are SQL errors in the logs, and event viewer.

Issue appears to be sql related.

NPM 11.5.2 through 12.1

Service was unable to open a new database connection when requested.

SqlException: A transport-level error has occurred when sending the request to the server. (provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 - An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.)
Connection string - Data Source=EPBYMINSA0080t5\Infrastructure;Initial Catalog=NetPerfMon;Persist Security Info=False;User ID=SolarwindsNPM;Password=*******;Connect Timeout=20;Load Balance Timeout=120;Packet Size=4096;Application Name=w3wp@/LM/W3SVC/2/ROOT-1-131055500019036793;Workstation ID=SolarWinds

There are a number of long running queries in the logs:

C:\Users\SDAsvc\AppData\Local\Temp\DiagnosticsAnalyzer\5d9501bb-eca6-435e-ab1b-4e02b8a27315\Diagnostics\LogFiles\InformationServiceV3\Orion.InformationService.log, Line 23116, Message: '2016-04-24 02:29:30,655 [32] WARN SolarWinds.InformationService.Core.InformationService - (null) Support! -- LONG RUNNING QUERY: Session uuid:1e924326-f641-4606-abc9-ccaef27db18c;id=17 - Query took 19678.7153 ms: SELECT AlertObjectID FROM Orion.AlertObjects ao LEFT JOIN Orion.NPM.Interfaces no ON ao.EntityUri=no.Uri WHERE no.Uri IS NULL AND ao.EntityType = 'Orion.NPM.Interfaces' RETURN XML RAW'

These all point to an SQL performance/connection issue. See the following Microsoft articles for further information:
