Overview

After you upgrade from NPM 11.5.x to NPM 12.0, you receive an error like the following when you try to search:

Unexpected Website Error

C:\InetPub\SolarWinds\Orion\OGS\Controls\SearchResultLogItemControl.ascx.cs(16): error CS0029: Cannot implicitly convert type 'SolarWinds.Common.Threading.LazyWithoutExceptionCache<SolarWinds.Orion.Web.UI.WebIconCache>' to 'System.Lazy<SolarWinds.Orion.Web.UI.WebIconCache>'

Environment

  • NPM 12.0
  • Orion Platform 2016.1

Cause

The Orion Global Search feature was released as a technical preview for NPM 11.5.x and products running on Orion Platform 2015.1. This preview is not supported on NPM 12.0 or any products running on Orion Platform 2016.1. It must be removed from the SolarWinds Orion server.

Resolution

  1. Log in to the SolarWinds Orion server.
  2. Open Add/Remove Programs, and remove SolarWinds Orion Global Search.
  3. In the Configuration Wizard, select Database, Website, and Services.
  4. Complete the Configuration Wizard.

When the Configuratoin Wizard is complete, the search box is removed from the Orion Web Console, the elasticsearch service is uninstalled, and indexed data is removed.
