Query for node date added/discovered

Overview

This article provides a query that can be used to determine when a node is added or discovered.

Notes:

  • Event Type for node added is 9. This can be found in the EventType Table.
  • Query will use Caption from the NodesData table.
  • Data can only be retrieved depending on the Events Retention settings.
    Example: Events Retention default settings is 30 days. If you are running this query 30+ days after the node is known to have been added, there will be no data/result.

NPM 11.5

Steps

  1. Launch Database Manager > New Query.
  2. Run the following query:
    Select NodesData.Caption, Events.EventTime, Events.Message
    from Events
    Inner Join NodesData on (Events.NetworkNode=NodesData.NodeID)
    Where EventType = '9' and NodesData.Caption = 'nodename'
