Polling times out too quickly for Fibre Channel nodes.

Polling Fibre Chanel nodes may require more time than is typically allowed by the default SNMP timeout setting. To resolve this issue, extend the default SNMP timeout, as indicated in the following procedure.

To extend the default SNMP timeout:

  1. Using an account with administrative privileges, log on to your SolarWinds server.
  2. Open the file SolarWinds.NPM.BusinessLayer.dll.config in a text editor.
    Note: The default location of this file is C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion\NPM.
  3. Locate the following line:

    <add key="SNMPTimeout" value="3" />
  4. Change the SNMPTimeout value to 10.
  5. Save the file (SolarWinds.NPM.BusinessLayer.dll.config).
  6. Click Start > All Programs > SolarWinds Orion > Advanced Features > Orion Service Manager.
  7. Click Shutdown Everything.
  8. After everything shuts down, click Start Everything.

This article applies to SolarWinds Orion NPM versions 10.3 and higher.
