Overview

This article is meant to provide a quick checklist of things to verify when Nodes are not being polled after being assigned to an additional poller.

Environment

  • Any Orion Module
  • Additional Pollers

Cause

A required Additional Poller is not installed or its version does not match the version of the module on the main system.

Resolution

Things to check:

  • Ensure that the Orion Plaform version matches between Pollers.  To do this, go to "Settings -> Polling Engines" and compare the "Polling Engine Version" between the Primary Poller and the Additional Poller.
  • Ensure that the individual Module versions match between the Additional Poller and the Modules on the Main system.  To do this, compare the contents of the XML files in the following location on both systems:

C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion\Modules\

Each Module will have an XML file. Within each XML file is a <ModuleVersion> entry. Compare these values between both installations and make sure they are all the same version. If there is a mismatch, upgrade the required module.

  • Verify the Database Account used by the Main installation and compare it to the Database Account used by the Additional Poller installation. To do this, run the following steps on both systems:

1. Run the Configuration Wizard.

2. Select to repair the database and click next.

3. Click next until you get to the Database Account step.

4. Note the value for the Use an existing account setting and change the value on the Additional Poller host to match the value on the Main installation host.
