Node shows as up in the Web Console when polling engine is down

Table of contents

Updated June 22, 2017

Overview

This article describes why a node shows as up in the Web Console even when the polling engine is down or is unreachable because of a network error.

Environment

All NPM versions

Detail

When a polling engine goes offline, the status of the nodes polled by the engine does not change because the Web Console status depends on the information in the database.

There are pre-built alerts that can be enabled to trigger and send a notification to the administrator when a polling engine goes offline.

You can enable the following alerts to trigger and send notifications when there are polling issues:

  • Node not polled on the last 10 minutes
  • No polling engine update in the last 10 minutes
