Overview

This article briefly explains why interface alerts are suppressed when a node is down.

Environment

All Orion Core versions later than 10.1.x NPM

Detail

When a node is down, interface alerts do not fire because the parent alert already fired an alert. The node is the precedent element and has a built-in dependency that cannot be circumvented. A workaround would require a custom SQL alert as the "interface" type of property to monitor in the alerts would not present variables that would be limited to the exact interface with the issue.
