Overview

This article provides brief information on Historical real time utilization.

  • No Min.
  • No Max.
  • No Avg. on a graph

For example:

If the intervals are 5 mins and each 5 min is set at 5 megs the utilization, then the graph will have a horizontal line at 5 megs.

Environment

NPM version 11.5

Detail

NPM has Averaged Utilization from polled information and is not mean to be real-time utilization, it will always be an Averaged Utilization. Use an algorithm that is mentioned on this Thwack Article:

https://thwack.solarwinds.com/message/108094#108094

The default polling interface is 9 minutes.  You can increase the polling statistics interval individually per interface under edit interface up to about 1 minute.

Note: Please increase this setting sparingly as each interface increased will drain the resources for polling 9 times per interface, which will cause database performance issues if too many interfaces have this setting increased.

Solarwinds does have a free tool called the Real-Time Bandwidth Monitor.
