Network Discovery fails for multiple devices using SNMPv3

Table of contents

Issue:

When attempting to use SNMPv3 to discover more than two Cisco devices, ICMP is used instead.

Resolution:

This is a known issue that is tracked by Cisco as CSCub61401. In short, a defect in certain Cisco devices forces the occupation of all available SNMP threads. In this case, the defective device is not detected as SNMP-enabled, and ICMP is used for discovery and monitoring. Until the issue is fixed by Cisco, devices may be added individually, as necessary.

This article applies to SolarWinds products using Orion Core Platform 2012.2 and higher
