NPM installation error: Setup is missing an installation prerequisite

Overview

This article provides brief information and steps to resolve the following error while installing NPM Additional website:

 

Setup is missing an installation prerequisite: -Microsoft SQL Server 2008 System CLR Types.  To continue, install SQL Server System CLR Types from http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID= 116207 and then run the Setup operation again.

 

Note: It is possible to encounter a similar error on the 2008 and 2012 Management Objects as well.  

Environment

  • All NPM versions that support Windows Server 2012 R2
  • Windows Server 2012 R2

Detail

All CLR types and Shared Management Objects .msi files must be executed for both x86 and x64 architectures and SQL Server 2008 and Server 2012.
