Issue:

NPM crashes while performing the Microsoft IIS ISAPI vulnerability remediation steps (http://www.rapid7.com/db/vulnerabilities/http-iis-0013).

 

Workaround:

1. Open the Web.config file in the root directory of the Web server (C:\inetpub\SolarWinds).

2. Edit the string <httpErrors errorMode="Detailed" /> to <httpErrors errorMode="Custom" />
3. Another method is to edit the string <httpErrors errorMode="Detailed" /> to <httpErrors errorMode="Detailed" existingResponse="PassThrough" /> to show detailed info only while browsing locally.
4. If a request for a non existent file or folder appears on the web server, then only a blank page will be displayed without the absolute path on server.
