Overview

The Discovered Links topology report is available in NCM 6.0 that is integrated into Orion NPM 10.0. This report shows the devices to which switches and routers are connected, as recorded in the database by the Network Discovery Engine during its latest iteration of discovery.

Environment

  • NCM 6.0
  • NPM 10.0 with NPM-NCM Integration installed

Detail

Prerequisites for viewing Discovered Links data for Orion nodes are:

  1. The nodes were discovered with the Network Discovery Engine. If you import nodes into Orion from another source, such as another SQL Server database, you must run the Network Discovery engine on that set of nodes in order to capture current switch port mapping information.
  2. The relevant ports are being monitored in Orion NPM. Because every network object monitored in Orion requires a license, you must have licenses to cover all the interfaces for which you want to see topology reports, and those interfaces must be specifically set up to be monitored in Orion.

The Discovered Links report is available only in the Orion Webconsole if NCM 6.0 is installed, and its integration module (NPM-NCM Integration) is installed on the Orion server.
