Overview

This articles shows how to move nodes to the correct polling engine and remove old engine entries with previous IP address.

Why are there 2 primary polling engines in Orion?

There is an incorrect Dual (OLD) primary engine entry. Orion Platform sees the old polling engine entry, and the nodes are assigned to the old engine entry in the database (Engines table).

To verify the issue, go to Settings > Polling Engines. You can see that all nodes are still associated to the old engine.

Environment

All NPM Core versions

Cause

  • The hostname of the Orion server changed.
  • Orion was migrated to another server with a new hostname or IP.
  • The Orion IP address changed.
  • There was a fresh installation on a new Orion server using the old database with the new IP address assigned to the Orion server.

Resolution

Move all nodes to the correct polling engine:

  1. Go to Settings > Manage Nodes, and select the "No Grouping" filter.
  2. Select the box at the top to select all nodes.
