Issue:

The 'Manage Nodes View' does not show any nodes. It shows the following error at the bottom of the view, in all of the 'group by' options.

"Server error: Internal Server Error"

Cause:

  1. The Database Operating System Locale is not set to English.
  2. Currently SolarWinds does not support all collations of databases - Requirements for the Orion Database Server (SQL Server)
  3. The Interfaces Business Layer is not coming up due to Missing DLLs. If this issue is being faced it can be confirmed by checking the following log file:
    C:\ProgramData\SolarWinds\Logs\Orion\BusinessLayerHost.log
  4. Planned Unmanage Window Column is selected for Interfaces

ERROR SolarWinds.BusinessLayerHost.PluginInstanceAppDomain - Plugin "Interfaces Business
Layer" failed to start.
System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not load file or assembly
'SolarWinds.Interfaces.Common, Version=3.0.0.52, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null'
or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.

Resolution:
Change the default language to 'English'
in SQL server management studio - How do I change the Default Language of my SolarWinds database

If the issue is with the Interfaces Business Layer, the missing DLL files can be replaced by the following steps:

  1. Remote Desktop to the Orion Server.
  2. Open Programs and Features.
  3. Select Solarwinds Orion Core Services xxxx.x.
  4. Click Repair.
  5. Run the Configuration Wizard to completion.

To check cause 4:

1. Go to Manage Nodes

2. Switch "Show:" to Interfaces

3. Click ">>" next to "Type" column to list columns

4. De-select "Planned Unmanage Window"

5. Submit and should not get Internal Server anymore
