This article provides information about the maintenance start date of your license.

All Solarwinds products

Orders for New Purchases:

When a new order is received and processed, the maintenance date will begin on that date. The maintenance start date does NOT begin on the day the license is downloaded and registered.

Orders for Annual Maintenance Renewal on existing license:

When a renewal order is received and processed, the maintenance expiry date on your license will be extended.  This will be reflected in your Customer Portal.

For example:

If the original purchase was placed on Jan 1st 2015, the maintenance end date would be Jan 1st 2016.

  • If you were to place your maintenance renewal on Dec 1st 2015 - the maintenance would be extended to Jan 1st 2017.
  • If you were to place your maintenance renewal on Feb 1st 2016 - the maintenance would be extended to Jan 1st 2017.

If your Customer Portal is showing the correct maintenance expiry date, but your license is showing expired, please refer to the following article for assistance in updating the maintenance date on your license:

Orders to increase license size on existing license:

Usually when an order to increase the license size is processed, the maintenance date would expiry on the same date as the original license, unless specifically requested by the customer to our Sales team.

For example:
NPM SL250 purchased on Jan 1st 2015.  Maintenance due to expire Jan 1st 2016

Upgrade of NPM SL250 to NPM SLX processed on July 1st 2015.

The maintenance expiry date would still remain as Jan 1st 2016

Out of Maintenance Upgrade

If the maintenance on a license expired on Jan 1st 2016 and it is then decided to get back under activate maintenance at a later date, the customer would need to purchase an "out of maintenance" upgrade on their license.  The date the order is processed will be the start date and the maintenance expiry date will be one year later.

For example:

NPM SL250 expired on Jan 1st 2016.  Maintenance was not renewed at that time.
Out of Maintenance Upgrade purchased on Aug 1st 2016
The maintenance expiry date would be Aug 1st 2017.
