Last 25 Events page displays groups not in the limitations

Updated April 4, 2017

Overview

The Last 25 Events page does not apply the limitations set in NPM 12.0.1 and displays activities from groups that are not part of the limitations.

Environment

NPM 12

Cause

By design, all limitations work the same. There is no difference between an account limitation and a view limitation. All entities in Orion are arranged in a tree-like structure, for example Group > Node > Interface, and if you set a limitation to a certain entity (node), then entities on the same level and below (nodes + interfaces) are limited and entities above are not (groups).

There can be dynamic limitations on dynamic groups, nested groups, groups containing different types of entities at the same time, and so on.

Resolution

You can submit a feature request or perform the following:

  1.  Create a group based on the node custom property.
  2.  Create an account limitation from the Orion Webconsole Manage Accounts settings.
