Overview

This article provides steps on how to generate Alerts for NPM.

Environment

NPM version 11.5.2

Steps

  1. Open the Web Console.
  2. Go to the Settings page click Manage Alerts.
  3. Choose an alert and click Edit, or click Add New Alert.
  4. Under Properties tab, enter your preferred description for your alert. Indicate the criticality of the alert to easily spot your priorities on the Active Alerts pages & resources.
  5. Go to the Trigger Condition tab and create your alert logic.

For example, to alert on All down nodes:

  • “Trigger Alert when” “All child conditions must be satisfied (AND)”

“Node” “Status” “is equal to” “Down”

Second example, to trigger on only Windows Servers:

  • “Trigger Alert when” “All child conditions must be satisfied (AND)”

“Node” “Status” “is equal to” “Down”
“Node” “IsServer” “is equal to” “Yes”
  6. Under Reset Conditions tab, choose how you want this alert to reset. If you are unsure, use Reset this alert when the trigger condition is no longer true.
  7. Set the Time of Day you want this alert to be active.
  8. On the Trigger Actions and reset actions tabs, set the actions you want to take - Send an email, log to a file, execute scripts, or even set a Node into a Custom Status.
Note: The Summary tab displays all choices made, so that you can confirm the Alert is set up the way you need it.
