GPON interfaces from Huawei are not listed in NPM

Updated June 6, 2017

NPM does not list Gigabit Passive Optical Networks (GPON) interfaces on Huawei devices.

  • All NPM versions
  • Huawei devices with GPON interfaces

NPM uses the RFC 1213 standard for ifIndex (© 2017 IETF, available at, obtained on June 5, 2017). Huawei devices use a different way of specifying ifIndices.

Run the snmp-agent ifindex-format standard command on your Huawei devices to configure the IP address range of destination hosts to support the standard ifIndex coding format:

snmp-agent ifindex-format standard [ host start-ipaddress end-ipaddress ]

Indicates the IP address range of the destination host to be configured.
Indicates the start IP address.
Dotted decimal notation.
Indicates the end IP address.
Dotted decimal notation.

The GPON interfaces are now displayed in NPM.
