Overview

This article explains how to force the priority of NIC cards in an environment when the Database is picking up the wrong NIC IP address.

There is a similar article that explains how to set the order of the NICs and can be found HERE.

Environment

NPM version 11.5.2

Steps

1. Go to Start > Run >  ncpa.cpl.

2.  Use ALT + N to display the Advanced Menu.

3.  Select Advanced Settings.

4. Highlight the Internet Protocol Version 4 and select Properties.

5. Click Advanced.

6. At the bottom of the window, uncheck Automatic Metric if is checked and put 1 for Interface Metric. This assigns the NIC to the database and should receive the correct IP.
