Find email addresses assigned in alert

Overview

This article provides steps on how to find which email addresses are assigned in each alert. 

Environment

  • NPM 11.5.x and newer
  • SAM 6.2.x and newer
  • Orion Core 2015.2.x & newer

Steps

  1. Login to your main Orion Server
  2. Open Orion Database Manager.
  3. Click Add default server and expand your SolarWinds database.
  4. Double-click on the table: ActionDefinitions
  5. Click Execute query.
  6. Scroll to the right to find the 'Target' & 'Parameter1' Columns
  7.  The Target column will display the Recipients of the Emails while the Parameter1 Column will contain the Subject of the Alert (which is most often the title of the Alert) where the Email Address is entered in.
    1. Note: If the subject of the email was changed you can scroll left to the AlertDefID column and get the unique string there and search the AlertConfigurations table for the that string in the AlertRefID column.


       
  8. To remove the email please log into the Orion Web console
  9. Click Settings > Manage Alerts > Locate the Alert and Click Edit
  10. Navigate to the Trigger Action & Reset Actions Tabs & remove the unwanted Email Address from the 'Send an Email Action'
  11. Continue the Alert Wizard and Save All Changes and the end.

 

For Orion that is on Web Based Alerting

1. Using Orion Database Manager, use ActionProperties table to show the email addresses assigned to trigger/reset email action.

Each record has ActionID which can be mapped to ActionsAssignments table.

 

 

2. Use the ActionID value to search for the ParentID in ActionsAssignments table.

The ParentID value can be mapped to AlertConfigurations table, this will help identify which alert has this email address on its trigger/reset email action.

 

 

3. Below is the result of finding the name of the alert based on the ParentID (which is AlertID on AlertConfigurations table)
