F5 Load Balancing Summary view displays duplicate LTMs

Updated December 14, 2018

Overview

Duplicate or incorrect F5 LTM device entries display in the Load Balancing Summary View as part of NCM.

Environment

  • NPM 12.1 and higher
  • Orion Platform 2017.1.x

Cause

You can view two devices because Node1 uses the SysName F5_LTM1.solarwinds.com. However, the F5 failover group name is F5_LTM1.External.solarwinds.com.

SolarWinds uses the SysName values to bind the node with the failover. Because both SysName values do not match, you see two nodes.

Resolution

Update the Failover Name on the F5 Device to reflect the SysName. The second / unknown F5 SysName will be removed.
