Error processing job System.Messaging.MessageQueueException: Insufficient resources to perform operation

Overview

The following message or similar is found in the PollingController.log file:

PollingController.log:

   at SolarWinds.Collector.PollingController.JobSchedulerEventsService.OnJobFinished(FinishedJobInfo[] jobFinishedInfo)

Cause

This can occur when the Message Queue directory is filled with orphaned files.

Resolution

  1. Log on to your SolarWinds as an administrator.
  2. Click Start > All Programs > SolarWinds Orion > Advanced Features > Orion Service Manager.
  3. Stop all SolarWinds services.
    Note: Leave the Orion Service Manager open.
  4. Click Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services.
  5. Right-click Message Queuing, and then click Stop.
    Note: Leave the Services window open.
  6. Navigate to InstallVolume:\Windows\System32\msmq\Storage\
    Note: The default installation volume is C:
  7. Delete all files with a MQ extension (*.MQ)
    Note: There may be more than 520 files about 1 GB in size to be deleted from this folder.
  8. In the Services window, right-click Message Queuing, and then click Start.
  9. In the Orion Service Manager, start all SolarWinds services.
  10. Confirm that the error does not persist in PollingController.log
