Overview

This article explains how to resolve an error that happens after upgrade of NPM.

The error displays:

Access to the path 'C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion\CpuMemory\SolarWinds.DeviceStudio.CpuMemory.Strings.dll' is denied.

Environment

  • NPM 11.5.3 and earlier

Cause

Root cause is unidentified at this point. It could be a IIS cache issue where it occurs when an upgrade is completed from a previous version of NPM 11.X.X to NPM 11.5.3.

Resolution

1. Open Internet Information Services (IIS) on the Main Orion server (Additional Web Console if applicable).

2. Expand the arrow on the hostname drop down.

3. Open Application Pools.

4. Stop the SolarWinds Orion application pool.

5. Run the SolarWinds Configuration Wizard and Select all options.
