Overview

This article describes the issue when you receive the following error when testing the Alert:

EXCEPTION STACK The server rejected one or more recipient addresses . the server response was 550.5.7.1 unable to relay for at interop.cdosys.MessageClass.Send

 

 

Environment

NPM version 10.0

 

Cause 

The line The server response was: 550 5.7.1 Unable to relay is a response from your mail server saying that it can not relay the mail being sent to it from your SolarWinds server. This is fairly common with locked down mail servers and you will need a configuration change on the mail server to allow the poller ip address to send.

 

Resolution

To resolve this issue please consult your System Admin .

To fix this issue:

  1. Open the Exchange System Manager.
  2. Go in Administrative Groups > Administrative group name > Server > Server name > Protocols > SMTP.
  3. Right-click Default SMTP Virtual Server > click properties.
  4. Access tab > Relay.
  5. Select only the list bellow and add your domain and\or IPs you do want to allow the relay.
  6. Check Allow all computers witch successfully authenticate to relay, regardless of the list above checkbox.
