Email alert shows interface status as 1 or 2 instead of Up or Down

Updated May 26, 2017

This article describes the issue where the interface status shows as 1 or 2, instead of Up or Down.

NPM 11.5 and later

The issue is caused by alerts which contain the old macro ${interface.status} in interface status.

  1. Go to the Orion Web Console.
  2. Click Alerts & Activity > Alerts > Manage Alerts.
  3. Locate and edit the interface alert.
  4. Click the Trigger Actions tab.
  5. Click Edit on the Send an Email page.
  6. Click Message and replace the old macro ${interface.status} with the new macro:  ${N=SwisEntity;M=Status;F=Status}
  7. Click Next > Save Changes.
  8. Click Simulate, and then select any interface.
  9. Click Simulate. Check if the interface status macro is now populated with Up or Down.
  10. Click Summary > Submit.
