ERROR Solarwinds.VIM.Web.VimProfile - Unable to load VIM user properties from database

Overview

This article describes the issue when navigating to the Orion Web Console, the following error is displayed:

Unexpected Website Error

There was an error communicating with the orion server.

exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation

The following error can be found in the OrionWeb.log:

ERROR Solarwinds.VIM.Web.VimProfile - Unable to load VIM user properties from database.  System.Reflection.TargetInvocationException: Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation. --->  System.ServiceModel.EndpointNotFoundException: There was no endpoint listening at .net.tcp://hostname:17777/orion/vim/businesslayer that could accept the message.  This is often caused by an incorrect address or SOAP action.  See InnerException, if present, for more details.

The following error can be found in the BusinessLayerHost.log:

Could not load file or assembly 'file:///c:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds.VIM.BusinessLayer.dll.config could not be loaded correctly.

Environment

All versions of Orion products with IVIM installed

Cause 

This issue occurs when the Solarwinds.VIM.BusinessLayer.dll.config file is missing or corrupted.

Resolution

 

  1. Go to Start > Programs and Features > Uninstall the Solarwinds Integrated Virtual Infrastructure Monitor.
  2. Then Go To ‘C: Program Data > Solarwinds > Installers ‘
  3. Run the installer for “SolarWinds Integrated Virtual Infrastructure Monitor.msi”
  4. You will be prompted to Run the Configuration Wizard (website, services, database).
