Overview

Duplicate or additional sub-interfaces of Juniper NetScreen devices appear when listing node resources.

Interfaces during List Resources on Juniper NetScreen

Environment

  • NPM 11.5 and later
  • Juniper NetScreen devices

Cause

Duplicate interfaces or sub-interfaces are not polled from ifTable (1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2) as common interfaces are but from nsIfTable (1.3.6.1.4.1.3224.9.1) and nsIfFlowTable (1.3.6.1.4.1.3224.9.3) which are maintained by Juniper NetScreen.

Resolution

Create new SNMP user on the Juniper device without access to 1.3.6.1.4.1.3224.9.1 sub-tree and use this new SNMP user for polling in NPM.
