Disable Data Execution Prevention

Table of contents

Updated April 3, 2017

When Data Execution Prevention (DEP) is enabled, some applications, such as SyslogViewer and TrapViewer cannot run successfully.

  • NPM 10.7 and later

These steps require a reboot.

  1. Log in to your SolarWinds Orion server as an administrator.
  2. Right-click Computer, and then click Properties > Advanced System Settings > Advanced Tab > Performance > Settings > Data Execution Prevention tab.
  3. Choose one of the following options:
    • Turn on DEP for essential programs and services only - DEP may block non-essential programs and services.  (Recommended)
    • Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select - Add SolarWinds applications to the exception list.
  4. Click OK.
  5. Reboot your computer.

All SolarWinds programs should run successfully.

If you were directed to this article from the installer, you should not receive a DEP warning when you run the installer.
