Dependencies page fails lo load list of dependencies

Updated December 28, 2016

Overview

After upgrading to NPM 12.0.1, the dependencies page at Settings - Manage dependencies in the Orion Web Console loads the page, but the list of dependencies just loads to a blank or is empty.

Environment

NPM 12.01 or later

Causes

The Union Degree Of Parallelism is set too high.

Or

There is a childsubtype of UNKNOWN in the dependencies table

Resolution 1

  1. Log on to the Orion Web Console.
  2. Browse to servername/Orion/Admin/AdvancedConfiguration/Global.aspx.
  3. Find the UnionDegreeOfParallelism setting.
  4. Set to 1 (default is 3) and submit/save at the bottom.
  5. Save it, and see if the dependencies list now loads.  If not, change the setting back to the previous.

Resolution 2

  1. open database manager
  2. find the Dependencies table
  3. enable table editing
  4. delete any dependencies with UNKNOWN in the ChildEntityType Coloumn
