Overview

This article describes how to delete/edit columns in the SolarWinds SQL Database.

Do this when applicable or when you encounter the following:

  • When mass node updates are needed where the normal procedure takes a great amount of time.
  • Mass update of hostname.

Note: Always backup your SolarWinds database before doing any changes.

Environment

All NPM versions

Steps

  1. Login as Admin in the Orion Server.
  2. Launch Database Manager.
  3. Open the Database used by SolarWinds.
  4. Open the desired Table and look for the column that you want to delete/edit.
update [table name] set [column]='[value that you want entered]'

Some examples:

update NodesData set caption =''

update NodesData set caption ='' where vendor = 'cisco'

update NodesData set IP_Address ='192.168.1.1'

update NodesData set IP_Address ='192.168.1.1' where vendor = 'cisco'
