This article addresses the issue where no results were returned by virtual datastore alerts check for datastores with less than 200GB disk space.

  • NPM 11.5.3
  • NPM 11.5.2
  • VMAN 6.3.1
  • VMAN 6.3.0

Orion and VMAN gets the DataStore values from the vCenter through API. The API attribute that holds this value is the datastore.freespace and the unit of this attribute is bytes, not gigabytes.

  1. On the Web Console, go to Alerts > Manage Alerts.
  2. Select the alert and click Edit Alert.
  3. In the Trigger Condition tab, set the Virtual Datastore Free Space is less than value in bytes. For example, 200GB is 214748364800 bytes (1 Gigabyte = 1,073,741,824 bytes).
