Database Maintenance failing, Input string was not in a correct format

Overview

Database maintenance is not running and gives the following error:

2016-04-27 14:43:55,406 [4] ERROR SolarWinds.Data.DatabaseMaintenance.Settings - Error retrieving settings:
System.FormatException: Input string was not in a correct format.

Environment

All Orion versions

Cause

The issue is caused by incorrect values for the CurrentValue on the Settings table of the database for the retention settings.

Resolution

  1. Review the Retention Settings in the Settings table of the database to see if any of the CurrentValues is set to something that would cause issues. For example, Trap-MaxMessageAge set to a currentValue of 10000000. Max value for that is 5000. More than one row can be affected by this. Saw a couple values in scientific notation that needed correcting.
  2. Correct the value and then rerun the database maintenance to see if it will now complete.
